Measure pH level of your plants to know the acidity or alkalinity of the soil

To know the pH level of your soil you need to measure

Soil pH is a measurement of the alkalinity or acidity of the soil. The soil pH range is measured on a scale of 1 to14 with 7 as the neutral mark. Anything below 7 is considered to be acidic soil and anything above 7 is considered to be alkaline soil. You need to measure the pH level of soil to get to know your soil.

Plant growth depends on the pH level

pH plays a very important role in determining the solubility of plant nutrients regarding pot plants, plants in your garden, vegetable garden and your lawn. Most plants grow better in a slightly acidic condition (pH 5.5-6.5). Apart from the direct effect of pH on plant growth, pH levels may also influence the microbes in the soil.

Optimal decomposition of the soil with a pH level of 7.0

The middle of the range on the soil pH scale (7.0) is the best pH value for bacterial growth in the soil to achieve optimal decomposition. The decomposition process releases nutrients and minerals in the soil of your plants making them available as nutrients for your plants. A pH value of about 7.0 is also perfect for micro-organisms to convert the nitrogen in the air into a form which the plants can use.
If you need to adjust the pH level, you need to measure the pH level first. Then you can buy different products, available in garden centers, if you need to adapt the pH level.
