PREPARATIONS AND TIPS
-In addition to the moisture content of the soil (in%) measured by the soil moisture sensor, the Gateway has a sensor that measures the temperature, humidity and air pressure on site.
-The gateway and the sensor use the radio signal 868 MHz. If at your home or in the immediate vicinity other devices work with the same radio signal, this can cause interference.
-The Gateway only works with a 2.4GHz band Wi-Fi network, Dual Band is not supported.
-Make sure that WiFi and Bluetooth are activated on your phone during installation.
-Make sure there is as little distance as possible between your phone and the Gateway during installation (max. 1 meter).
Install the Gateway as close as possible to your router (preferably in the same room), in any case ensure good WiFi reception of the Gateway.
Install the soil moisture sensor(s) close to the Gateway (preferably in the same room) to ensure that the Gateway can properly receive the radio signal from the sensor.
-Sometimes WiFi routers are extra secured (especially corporate networks). In this case it won’t be possible to connect the Gateway to your WiFi. You will need to consult the administrator of your network.
-Some WiFi routers need to be activated with a button first to enable a WiFi connection with another device (such as the Gateway).

8. Now open the app again and click on the menu at the top left (the 3 blue lines). Click on “Device List” to find the Gateway. Make sure your phone is as close to the Gateway as possible. You should now see the image below (with different data).

Ecowitt Device List

If this screen remains blank, you should wait max. 2 min. If after 2 minutes the screen is still blank, return to the WiFi settings on your phone to see if your phone has reconnected to your standard WiFi. If not (because the phone still shows a connection to the GW1000-WIFI network), select your default network manually and repeat step 8. above. If you still have a blank screen, turn off mobile data reception in your phone settings, close the WS View app and close all other active apps on your phone. Now repeat step 8. above. PAIRING THE SOIL MOISTURE SENSOR(S) WITH THE GATEWAY
1. Remove the sensor from the box and insert an AA battery into the sensor. When the sensor is on, a red light will flash. Do not put the sensor near the plant yet!
2. “CH1 SOIL” appears in the app, this is the 1st sensor. When multiple sensors are paired it is recommended to change the name of the sensor so that you will know which one it concerns. You can easily change the name by clicking on the symbol with the pen in in your display near “CH1 SOIL”. The 2nd sensor you link the same way is called “CH2 SOIL”, etc. A maximum of 8 sensors can be linked to 1 Gateway. When you install the battery in the sensor, it is directly connected to the Gateway.
3. To be sure, check first if the sensor is properly calibrated. This can be done by putting the sensor in a glass of water (only the black part of the probe up to 1 cm below the green housing). The moisture value can now be checked in the app. If the value is 95% or higher, the sensor is OK. If the value is below this, follow the directions in the English manual to calibrate the sensor or contact sales@plantcaretools.com

LINKING WITH THE ECOWITT SERVER DASHBOARD

1. Go to the website www.ecowitt.net
2. Log in to your account or create an account first if you have not already done so when you installed the WS view app.
3. After logging in, go to the menu at the top left (the 3 lines). Click on “Devices”. All devices that have been paired will appear here.
4. Click on the bar with “Add Device”.
5. Enter a device name + the Location. Device type is “Weather Station”.
6. Enter the MAC number. This number can be found by opening the WS view app. Select in
the menu for “Device List”. Then the MAC number is listed with the Gateway. See the image under point 8. Above. Choose the Gateway and enter the MAC number on the ecowitt website. Press save and the Gateway is paired.
7. Click on the menu again (the 3 lines at the top left) and then go to “Dashboard”. The moisture values and graphs will appear. At the top of the page, in the middle you can choose which Gateway (which project) you want to view the data of if you have installed more than 1 Gateway.
8. Save the page with the dashboard as a favorite in the browser of your Phone / PC / Laptop / Tablet to quickly access the live data anywhere and anytime.

SET NOTIFICATIONS
Go to “Dashboard”. Click on the yellow bell and then a menu appears where notifications can be set. For example minimum soil moisture value, maximum soil moisture value and when the battery is (almost) empty. You will now automatically receive an email as soon as the values you have set are exceeded. The Gateway may lose its connection if the WiFi goes down. That’s why it is important to check at least weekly the dashboard to see if the soil moisture sensors are still delivering current values. Now the sensors can be placed inside near the plants, or in the garden/in your lawn.

RESET TO FACTORY SETTINGS
Press the black button at the front for approx. 10 sec. until the red light and blue light flash 3X simultaneously to reset the Gateway to factory defaults. All previously set data will now be lost and you will have to start again with the complete installation with the WS View app.
