This is not a standalone product ! You need the WiFi outdoor irrigation controller (also available in our webshop here). ith the RainPoint sensor you can check the soil moisture and soil temperature anytime, anywhere in the APP. You will be able to automate irrigation schedules depending on the moisture content of the soil. You can install max. 1 sensor per Gateway. The sensor uses a radio signal (433 MHz) every 5 minutes to send the data to the Gateway. You can also automate the execution of irrigation schedules based on the moisture percentage of the soil. By setting the desired minimum moisture percentage of the sensor, no irrigation will take place automatically (even if you have set irrigation schedules) as long as the current moisture percentage remains above the value you have set. By default, this percentage is 60% (only below 60% the irrigation schedules will be executed). You can manually change the minimum value to 20, 40, 80 or 100%. With the 2 black buttons on top of the sensor you can also read the moisture percentage on the sensor itself, shown by 5 LED lights. The sensor is powered by 3X AAA batteries. They last approximately 1 year. The battery status of the sensor is also displayed in the APP.

Installation of the soil moisture sensor for the WiFi irrigation controller
If you have also purchased the soil moisture sensor as an option, you can now install it as follows. The sensor sends the data to the WiFi Irrigation Controller every 5 minutes via a radio signal (433 MHz). You can install max. 1 soil moisture sensor per Gateway (= irrigation hub).
Make sure the WiFi irrigation controller, the sensor and your phone are not too far from each other. The sensor has a maximum range of approximately 100 meters (in the open field) compared to the WiFi irrigation controller.
1. Unscrew the battery cover on the bottom of the sensor and install 3X AAA quality batteries (not rechargeable batteries). A green LED on the top of the sensor will show for 2 sec. Do not close the lid of the battery compartment yet!
2. Just above the batteries in the battery holder is a small black button. Hold this button for 5 sec. (e.g. with a ballpoint) when the green LED on the top of the sensor is no longer lit. A red LED on the top of the sensor will now turn on. This means the sensor is ready to be connected.
3. When the red LED lights up, click in the APP on the symbol of the WiFi irrigation controller and then in the “Parameter” screen at the bottom right on “Sensor”. The sensor is now automatically connected, which takes about 10 sec. The icon next to the soil sensor now turns green and the status of the batteries in the sensor is now also visible.
4. Now press “Parameter” again at the bottom left and the data from the sensor will be visible (soil humidity in % and the temperature of the soil).
5. If you click on “Sensor” at the bottom again, you will see the graph with the humidity and temp. data. The sensor sends this data at an interval of 5 min.
6. Now screw the lid back onto the battery holder and press the sensor into the ground (max. 100 meters away from the WiFi Irrigation Controller). As long as the moisture of the soil does not fall below 60%, the Irrigation Controller will not irrigate. The irrigation schedules you have set will not be executed until the soil moisture percentage drops below 60%. You can manually change this percentage to 20, 40, 80 or 100% on the sensor itself with the 2 black buttons on the top (explained below). The lifespan of the batteries in the sensor is about 1 year.

Manual operation is also possible with the 2 black buttons on the top of the sensor to set the “Stop irrigation” level (in%) and to read the actual soil moisture percentage on the sensor.
1. After the sensor has been installed correctly, press and hold the 2 black buttons simultaneously for 5 sec. The current soil moisture percentage is now displayed with 5 LEDs. With 1 LED lit, the soil moisture is 20%, with 2 LEDs 40%, with 3 LEDs 60%, with 4 LEDs 80% and with 5 LEDs 100%. You can also read the actual soil moisture percentage in the APP (see above).
2. By now pressing the left button you can manually set the stop irrigation level of the WiFi Irrigation Controller to 20, 40, 60, 80 or 100%. This means that the controller will automatically suspend all irrigation (including the set schedules) until the current moisture percentage falls below the level you have set. By continuing to press the left button, the lights will change. By default, this percentage is set at 60% (= 3 green lights). When you have set the percentage you want, press the right button to confirm.
3. After you have carried out the instructions under 1. or 2. above, you can press the right button to read the current soil moisture percentage again. After 20 sec. all lights turn off automatically.
